The 2016 General Meeting for University Open Online Courses (UOOC) Local Universities Across China and MOOC Seminar was held on November 11 at the international meeting hall of Shenzhen University (SZU). Among nearly 150 attendees were leaders from the Ministry of Education, provincial and municipal departments of education, and teaches from UOOC member universities. Leaders of all levels uniformly praised UOOC’s vigorous efforts in course construction, model innovation, and student expansion during the past two years since its foundation and provided advice on the major problems facing UOOC during its development and sustainable development.
The MOOC Economics in Everyday Life by Prof. Tao Yitao, vice secretary of CPC committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of SZU and director of the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR) has gone viral with good reviews keep coming since it went online. The course has received 43,521 views on the old platform (uooc.net.cn) by far and has been topping the list of humanities & social sciences courses with the largest number of students. The UOOC “Economics in Everyday Life”, with consistent recognition and praise from UOOC teachers and students, wins the Brand MOOC Award. Prof. Tao Yitao also presented the UOOC “Outstanding Contribution Award” as a guest of the event, to the representatives of the winning organizations.
Prof. Tao Yitao’s MOOC team members include teacher Wang Baowei, who is responsible for online instructions, and Prof. Tao Yitao’s doctoral students Zhang Xiaoqin, Wang Jiangbo, and Zheng Sijia and master students Ma Zhongxin and Ning Yicheng. Those students all participated in MOOC preparation.
